Before Your HydraFacial
For the best outcome, proper preparation is essential:
- If you are preparing for a wedding or special event, we recommend scheduling your HydraFacial at least 7 days prior
- If this is your first HydraFacial, please schedule 10 days before your event to allow time for your skin to fully respond

After Your HydraFacial

If You Experience Purging

Chemical Peel Post Treatment
Immediate Aftercare (Day 1)
- Do Not Wash or Touch: After the peel, do not wash, touch, or apply makeup to the treated areas for at least 6 hours. The peel solution should remain on the skin during this time.
- Moisturizer: If you experience irritation, apply a small amount of the Perfect Derma Moisturizer (included in your post-peel kit) 2-3 times daily. If there is no irritation, avoid moisturizing until peeling begins.
Days 2-3
- Gentle Cleansing: On the morning of Day 2, gently wash and dry the treated area. Apply the first post-peel towelette and let it dry thoroughly before applying SPF 30 or higher.
- Avoid Sweating: Refrain from heavy exercise, saunas, or excessive sweating during the peeling process.
Peeling Process (Days 3-6)
- Peeling Begins: Peeling typically starts around Day 3. Do not pick or pull at the peeling skin; let it fall off naturally to avoid scarring.
- Moisturizing: After peeling begins, apply the Perfect Derma Moisturizer 2-3 times a day to manage dryness and tightness.
Days 7 and Beyond
- Continued Care: By Day 7, most peeling should be complete, but mild sloughing may still occur. Continue to use SPF 30 or higher to protect your skin from sun exposure.
- Avoid Harsh Products: For at least 10 days post-peel, avoid using retinoids, exfoliants, or any strong skincare products that could irritate the skin.

Pre-Procedure Instructions for Injectable Fillers
1. One Week Prior
- Avoid blood-thinning over-the-counter medications such as aspirin, Motrin, ibuprofen, and Aleve.
- If you are on a medically indicated blood thinner stay on it, but consult with your provider ahead of time or day of the procedure
2. 2 Days Prior to Injections
- Start taking Arnica two days prior to the procedure. (This is not required, but it will help to lessen bruising.)
3. Day of procedure
- Do not drink alcoholic beverages prior.
- Arrive with a clean face, please wash your face prior to your appointment
4. General Recommendations
- Please let your provider know if you are prone to getting facial cold sores, as an anti-viral post-treatment may be recommended.
- Do not use dermal fillers if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
- Do not schedule dermal fillers if you have recently (within 2 weeks) had a dental procedure (even a routine cleaning).
- Do not schedule dermal fillers if you had recently (within 1 month) received a vaccine, including Covid-19 vaccine.
Post-Procedure Instructions for Injectable Fillers
- Bruising at the treatment site may occur. Arnica Gel, Arnica tablets or Bromelain (pineapple extract) may help with this.
- Temporary, minimal to moderate swelling may be expected related to the area/s treated and the product/s used. You may apply ice to the treated area for the first 24 hours, especially if treated around the eye or lips. (20 minutes on, then 20 minutes off is a good rule.)
- It may be normal to experience some tenderness at the treatment site that can last for a few hours or, at times, a couple of days. Avoid aspirin and anti-inflammatory medications such as ibuprofen (in Motrin or Advil) for one week following the procedure. You may take acetaminophen/Tylenol if you experience any mild tenderness or discomfort.
- For the first 72 hours you should refrain from massaging the injected area. The area may feel However, if a visible lump is seen after the initial 3 days, you may gently massage it for the next week which will help integrate the product with your skin.
- AVOID strenuous exercise, extreme heat such as saunas/hot tubs or strenuous activity for the remainder of the treatment day. You may resume other normal activities/routines immediately.
If you experience increasing pain or pain that won’t go away, grey, white or purple discoloration near the treatment area immediately contact Coastal Plastic Surgery Institute (850) 233-7674. If you do not get a prompt response go to the emergency room or other qualified medical provider such as a plastic surgeon or cosmetic dermatologist.

Sculptra is a biostimulatory injectable that stimulates your body’s own collagen production. If you have a history of keloids or have an autoimmune disease, please notify your provider ahead of time to ensure your candidacy for this treatment. For best results and minimal side effects, follow these pre-care guidelines:
1 Week Before Treatment
- Avoid blood-thinning agents, including:
- Aspirin, Ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin), Naproxen (Aleve), and other NSAIDs

5-7 Day Prior to Treatment
- Avoid taking all forms of Vitamin E, Green Tea, Fish Oil, large quantities of Garlic, Non-steroidal, anti-inflammatory medication (Ibuprofen, Advil, etc.), Aspirin, Gingko Biloba, Flax Oil, Cod Liver oil, Vitamin A, and Niacin supplements 24 hours prior to treatment in order to reduce the incidence of bruising/ bleeding after your treatment.
- Please avoid alcohol 24 hours prior to procedure.
- If you are on any blooding thinning medication which you cannot stop, please alert your provider and realize that short-term bruising is inevitable.

- Add on Benev Exosomes immediately post-treatment (applied by your provider) for accelerating the speed of epidermal regeneration, increasing type 1 and 3 collagen, and lowering your risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation
- Benev exosomes contain growth factors, peptides, co-enzymes, minerals, and vitamins
- Schedule a Hydrafacial for one-month post-treatment for deep exfoliation and hydration after Aquafor treatments.
- It is important ablative laser patients are in overall good health and we will discuss your past medical history and medication list at your consult.
- You will need to have distilled White Vinegar at home to use for after treatment.
Post-Treatment Instructions:
2-4 Hours after Treatment:
- While in our office, we immediately soak the treatment area in cool saline water solution followed by application of post-procedure ointment.
- A small hand-held fan may feel good on the way home. Please come with a large floppy hat for theride home
- If needed, take tylenol. Avoid ibuprofen if possible.
- Draw out heat / Cool your skin: as needed for discomfort.
- Gently blot off gel applied in the office with a 4x4 gauze
- Soaking instructions: Use 4x4 gauze soaked in vinegar solution and apply to treatment area for 10-15 minutes. This will prevent infection and promote healing. (Recipe 1 Tbsp. white vinegar to 1 pint water). *Tip: Prepare a bowl of this solution and keep stored in your refrigerator and take out as needed.
- Repeat as needed until there is no longer a “sunburned” feeling
- You may use cool compresses. Avoid direct application of ice to skin; we recommended cold wet clothes.
- When intense heat subsides, apply to vinegar solution to face and then apply Aquaphor ointment to skin.
- Keep treatment area covered thickly with this balm up to 7 days depending on depth of treatment.
- *The skin must not dry out*
First Evening After Treatment:
- Before bed, use 4x4 gauze soaked in the vinegar solution and apply to treatment area for 10-15 minutes.
- Then apply, Aquaphor Ointment generously to skin.
- Sleep on your back and with head slightly elevated (continue this every night until swelling has subsided). *Tip: Place towel over pillow to protect your pillow from the Aquaphor
- Avoid environmental irritants during the healing process including hairsprays, dirt, dust, sun, etc.
Day 1
- Stay indoors and avoid direct sunlight.
- Remove balm with gauze or cloth soaked in vinegar solution by dabbing the ointment off. Do not rub skin - gently pat.
- Gently cleanse the area with Gentle Cleanser - apply a thin coat of cleanser to dampened face and it will foam up and do the work for you. Remove by gently dabbing with the clean wash cloth - do not rub!
- Gentle/Hydrating Cleanser: nothing that says acne, foaming, or contains exfoliating ingredients like salicyclic acid
- Use 4x4 gauze soaked in the vinegar solution and apply to treatment area for 10-15 minutes and then re-apply Aquaphor ointment.
- Repeat these steps at noon and bedtime.
- Hydrate and eat healthy foods. Avoid alcohol and No exercising until face is completely healed.
- You may take a tepid shower and wash hair. Stand with back to the shower so the treatment area is avoided.
Day 2
- Continue to care for treatment area 2-3 times daily with:
- Gentle Cleanser (ex. McAllister’s Premium Revitalizing Cleanser)
- Vinegar solution soaked for 10-15 minutes
- Aquaphor ointment
- Itching (particularly along the jawline tends to begin on this day)
- You may apply over the counter Hydrocortisone cream to the itching areas.
- You may apply extra Aquaphor ointment, cool compresses, and/or you may take an oral antihistamine such as Benadryl or Zyrtec
- Do not pick or scratch.
Day 3
- Continue to care for treatment area 2-3 times daily with:
- Gentle Cleanser
- Vinegar solution soaked for 10-15 minutes
- Aquaphor ointment
- Itching may persist. Take an antihistamine or apply OTC hydrocortisone cream. Apply Aquaphor Ointment throughout the day.
- The central area of the face may begin to exfoliate today leaving behind soft pink tissue.
- Do not pick!
Day 4-7 (Progress depends on depth of treatment)
- Itching has usually subsided, If not, continue on anti-histamine, especially at bed time.
- May start a light manual exfoliation - gently massage skin at end of shower with the pads of your fingers, do not over scrub.
- Continue to care for treatment area 1-2 times daily with:
- Gentle Cleanser
- Vinegar solution soaked for 5-10 minutes
- You may then transition to a gentle moisturizer (example: SkinMedica HA5 HydraCollagen or McAllister’s Premium Intense Recovery Cream)
- Spot treatment dry/crusty areas with your Aquaphor
- Start your Broad Spectrum SPF if you go out - SPF 30+, must have Zinc Oxide or Titanium dioxide as active ingredient (ex. SkinBetter Sunbetter)
- If skin is healed, female patients will be able to apply mineral make-up to treatment area during this time.
- Tip: Pick up a pack of makeup sponges as you will want to "press-roll" minerals or regular makeup.
Day 7+
- You may start your regular skin care regimen as long as the treatment area is healed; however, DoNot use any harsh, strong acids for one month. This includes Retin-A, glycolic acid, salicyclic acid,etc.
- We will review your homecare regimen at your 1 week follow-up.
- Continue to apply your sunscreen and (ladies) use mineral makeup to protect the treated areas.
- Avoid exposure to excessive sun for up to 4 weeks. Hat or clothing must be used to protect the treatment areas.
- May fully return to exercise program after 10 days of treatment if skin is fully healed.

Upper Blepharoplasty Pre and Post Treatment Instructions
What to Expect Before Your Procedure
Your upper blepharoplasty (eyelid lift) will be performed in our office under local anesthesia. This is a safe, minimally invasive procedure designed to rejuvenate and refresh your eye area by removing excess skin and improving eyelid contour.
1–2 Weeks Before Surgery
- Medication Review:
- Stop taking aspirin, ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin), naproxen (Aleve), or any other NSAIDs10–14 days prior.
- Discontinue herbal supplements, fish oil, Vitamin E, and green tea extracts1 week prior.
- Continue prescribed medications unless instructed otherwise by Dr. McAllister or your primary physician.
- Smoking & Alcohol:
- Avoid smoking or nicotine use for at least 2 weeks before and after surgery—it delays healing.
- Limit or avoid alcohol for 48 hours prior to your procedure.
- Health:
- Notify our office if you develop any illness, cold, fever, or eye irritation prior to your procedure date.
Day Before Surgery
- Confirm your arrival timewith our office.
- Gently cleanse your face the night before and get a good night’s rest.
- Do not weareyelash extensions or waterproof mascara for at least 3 days before surgery.
Day of Your Procedure
- Do not wear:makeup, lotion, perfume, or jewelry.
- Come with clean skin—wash your face with a gentle cleanser.
- Wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing, preferably a button-up or zip-up top.
- Eat a light mealbefore arriving (since you will be under local anesthesia only).
- You may bring earbudsif you’d like something calming during your procedure.
- You will remain awake and comfortable throughout; Dr. McAllister will numb the area with a local anesthetic.
- Must have a driver if you would like to MKO Melt for additional comfort during the procedure. $100
Immediately After Your Procedure
- Mild swelling, tightness, and bruising around the eyes are normal.
- You will have small suturesthat will remain for approximately 5–7 days.
- Apply cold compressesas directed to minimize swelling.
- Keep your head elevatedwhen resting or sleeping for the first several nights.
- Avoid bending, lifting, or strenuous activity for 1 week.
- Do not apply makeup until cleared by our team.
Medications & Care
- You may be prescribed a mild pain reliever and an antibiotic ointment—use as directed.
- Do not useover-the-counter ointments or creams unless recommended by Dr. McAllister.
- Sunglasses are recommended when outdoors to protect the incision area.
Follow-Up Appointments
- Post-op visit:_5-7 days post op
Please call our office if you experience:
- Sudden increase in pain or swelling
- Bleeding that does not stop with gentle pressure
- Vision changes, light sensitivity, or excessive tearing
- Signs of infection (fever, redness, drainage, or warmth at incision sites)
